OUR MISSION

To establish a community where young black professionals can form deeper relationships, get connected to local resources, and master the tools to build wealth.

WHO WE ARE

Urban Professionals Community is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization focused on community building and financial education. Our goal is to serve as the most effective community in the DMV for young black working adults to form friendships and learn how to build wealth.

WHAT WE DO

UPC Socials

(Monthly Meetups)

We believe that the first step towards economic empowerment for the diaspora is to establish a strong sense of community. From nature hikes to barbeques, museum tours, game nights, and interactive relationship panels, UPC Socials have made our organization a staple in the Greater Washington community since 2017.

UPC Master Classes

(Workshops and Webinars)

Master Classes is our platform to partner with industry experts to educate the community on various wealth-building strategies, including budgeting, debt management, real estate investment, stock market investment, and starting a business. With the guest speaker as the main headline, the remainder of the events still look and feel like a meetup, with engagement activities built in so attendees can continue to feel plugged into the community.

UPC Masterminds

(Peer Mentoring/Accountability Groups)

While Master Classes provide a thorough introduction to a wealth-building topic, Masterminds provide the deep dive. A UPC Mastermind is essentially a peer-to-peer mentoring and accountability group that runs 3 to 6 months, where members deep dive into learning a specific wealth-related topic (ex. stock or real estate investing).

UPC Community Collabs

(Volunteering in the Community)

Community Collabs represent the volunteering wing of UPC. By partnering with existing community organizations, we work with our membership to serve the local community as a whole via youth mentoring, food bank volunteering, targeted fundraising, and even mentor-led financial education workshops at a local high school.

WHAT WE VALUE

COMMUNITY

Rooted in the teachings of many current and historical black thought leaders, UPC believes that the first step towards economic empowerment for the African diaspora is to establish a strong sense of community. Here in the DMV, blacks are scattered about, frequenting certain parts of town but not necessarily connecting with one another on a deeper level. We seek to provide a social environment where young blacks of working age can build deeper friendships and relationships.

ACCOUNTABILITY

With community comes a sense of accountability. Members have a vested interest in each other's well being because of their shared experiences, values, and desire to uplift black people as a whole. As co-members in this community of ours, we are here to help you achieve your goals. Join a mastermind in an area of your interest. Commit with us to servicing the black community. Share with your ideas to better the diaspora, and we would love to partner with you in your efforts.

FINANCIAL PROSPERITY

Our financial goal is to create and maintain a community of learning, support, action, and accountability that fosters the success of our members. We believe the tools to economic success are well within reach. In fact, the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to achieve that success can be found right here within the community, throughout the collective membership. By hosting educational round tables and mastermind sessions, we disperse those tools throughout the community, empowering each participant to achieve that financial success and share it with their families.
